Nicole McNeil Named Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science

Nicole McNeil, the Director of the Interdisciplinary Minor in Education, Schooling, and Society, an ACE Professor of Psychology, and a fellow of the Institute for Educational Initiatives, has been selected as a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science.
 
The Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of scientific psychology and its representation at the national and international level. Fellow status is awarded to members who have made sustained, outstanding contributions to the science of psychology in the areas of research, teaching, service, and application.
 
McNeil directs the Cognition Learning and Development (CLAD) Lab at Notre Dame (cladlab.nd.edu), where she and her students study cognitive development, with a primary focus on how children think, learn, and solve problems in the domain of mathematics. This work encompasses several interrelated areas such as numerical representation, symbolic reasoning, concept construction, skill acquisition, and problem solving. The research is funded by grants from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Educational Sciences and the National Science Foundation.
 
McNeil has been teaching and conducting research at the University of Notre Dame since 2006. She teaches for ACE regularly and was awarded the Christ the Teacher Award in 2016.
